How Will My Donation Be Used?
All donations to the ACCESS for Education Foundation are used to support the Foundations program activities. Descriptions of some of these activities, as well as the associated costs, are described below:
SUPPORT A CLASSROOM PRESENTATION ACCESS for Education Foundation employees visit K12 classrooms
and science fairs to share a fun, inspiring, and educational spacethemed presentation. As a part of each visit,
students receive a bottle of Space2O, along with a presentation of how
the electrolytes in Space2O are flown to space and back, so they each have something
that has actually been in space! Other activities include spacethemed quizzes where students
can win prizes, making and flying AlkaSeltzer rockets, and, for the
younger students, making astronaut space suits. Each classroom visit costs the Foundation $30-$60, depending on size of the group
and supplies needed. We invite you to support our K-12 science classroom effort by making a
contribution.
SUPPORT A CLASSROOM PAYLOAD K12 classrooms from around the country can participate in the ACCESS Program by developing space flight Inspirational payloads. Inspirational payloads are housed in specially designed and constructed containers for their launch to space. Each container costs approximately $25 to fabricate. We invite you to support K-12 classroom payloads by making a contribution toward the Inspirational payload spaceflight container costs.
SUPPORT A UNIVERSITY PAYLOAD University level ACCESS Program Research payloads are housed in one of two specially designed bulkheads/containers for their launch to space. Each container/bulkhead costs from $100-$200 to fabricate. We invite you to support University Research payload development by making a contribution toward the spaceflight container/bulkhead costs.
SUPPORT A STUDENT TEAM TO ATTEND A ROCKET LAUNCH
The ACCESS Foundation will organize a launch
viewing area, as well as provide hotel and travel options, to give ACCESS student teams an
opportunity to view the rocket launch that sends their payload into space.
We invite you to support a student team to attend their rocket launch by making a contribution.
Donations may be marked for a specific activity by the donor. The ACCESS for Education Foundation will honor all appropriate requests. Donations which are not predesignated will be directed towards fulfilling the needs of all of our programs.
How Else Can I Contribute?
In addition to monetary donations, the ACCESS for Education Foundation always has a need for corporate inkind service and/or material donations, as well as the services of dynamic and motivated volunteers. Below is a list of some of our current needs:
- Machining capability to help fabricate Inspirational payload containers and Research payload components;
- Developing lesson plans to help K12 teachers incorporate the Inspirational payload development into their curriculum;
- Mentoring a K12 classroom to help with the development of an Inspirational payload;
- Supporting a University Research payload by providing materials, machining skills, or expertise;
- Supporting environmental testing for student payloads by donating the use of facilities, skills, and mentoring;
- Providing the design and production of Tshirts, patches, pins or other mementos for the students involved in the ACCESS Program; and
- Providing travel related services for students to attend rocket launches.
